Enlightenment

Saturday, 19 September 2009

Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water.
The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken.
Although its light is wide and great,
The moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch wide.
The whole moon and the entire sky
Are reflected in one dewdrop on the grass.

Facebook Friends

Wednesday, 9 September 2009
People often ask what are the benefits of Facebook other than an implied sort of navel watching! Well, on Saturday I am meeting up with one of my Facebook friends in person. What is wonderful about that is that she is one of my favourite authors. She lives in America and I felt really chuffed when I found her Facebook page and she accepted me as a friend.

She is here in Edinburgh this week to do some research for an upcoming book and we are meeting for tea on Saturday. I can't wait!

Many people perceive the web as being a very negative and even a dangerous place but in many ways it just reflects life. In our towns and cities there are places we don't venture into because they don't match our vibrations and then there are the places we go to for fun and socialising. The web really has opened up the world and I for one am so grateful that Facebook enables like-minded people to connect in a meaningful way.

Late Summer

Tuesday, 8 September 2009
Although the weather is beautifully mild still, there are a few reminders that autumn is one its way. The nights are drawing in and we have to close the curtains much earlier. And there are less bees and insects around.

The butterflies especially are not nearly so prolific, but of course all the more precious for that!

There is a famous observation by Ralph Waldo Emerson along the lines of "if the stars only came out for one night in a thousand years we would sing their praises and stay up all night to catch the merest glimpse of this rare wonder. Instead the stars come out every night and we go to bed."

Rain, Rain, Rain!

Thursday, 3 September 2009
It is raining so hard in Edinburgh today that I decided to put my Wellington boots on to come to 7th Space. I have to confess to feeling a little self-conscious at first, I usually only wear them in the garden, but then wet weather is what they are designed for!

By the time I had walked with my umbrella under the trees and across the park to the bus stop, I was well into the swing of things. The years peeled back as I splashed through the puddles like a three year old. I came into the Space feeling lighthearted and full of joy!

The End of Summer

Tuesday, 1 September 2009
I was out walking the other day and enjoying the late summer flowers - michaelmas daisies, last of the roses, and bright dahlias. They are so colourful, like the leaves which will soon be turning in a blaze of glory.

Many people dislike autumn, seeing it as a time of decay and death. I've always loved it - for me autumn is a time for change, for reassessing and for lovingly releasing the things which are no longer serving you.

And while that can sometimes feel difficult, letting go of things you have loved, or plans and dreams which no longer match your energy frequency; in truth it is as easy as a tree releasing its leaves- just let go...
